Kau Piro

Our award-winning washed rind cheese has a luscious creamy interior with a savoury earthy flavour which becomes more complex and robust with age. Kau Piro means stinky cow in Te Reo Maori, due to its often pungent smell, typical of washed rinds.

At the NZ Champion of Cheese Awards, it won Trophy for Best Washed Rind in 2021, as well as a Gold medal, a Silver medal in 2020, 2019 and a Gold medal in 2016. At the International Cheese Awards, it won a Silver medal in 2019.
